Where can I buy fresh fish in Indianapolis today?
Caplinger's Fresh Catch runs full retail seafood markets at Shadeland (7460 Shadeland Ave) and Southside (7620 S Meridian St), open Monday–Saturday. Buy fresh fish by the pound and we'll fillet, clean and season it to order, salmon, cod, perch, halibut, catfish, tilapia, whiting and much more.
Is your seafood fresh or farm-raised?
We source real, fresh seafood and sell it honestly. Wild-caught where it matters, and premium farm-raised only where it’s truly the better product, always clearly labeled, you get the genuine article, including wild king crab and alligator. It's the whole reason Caplinger's exists.
Do you fillet, clean and season the fish I buy?
Yes, free of charge. Pick your fish at the counter and our team cleans, fillets and skins it exactly how you want it to cook at home.
Where can I buy king crab legs in Indianapolis?
At our Shadeland and Southside markets, colossal, wild-caught king crab legs by the pound. Call 24 hours ahead for large orders (we regularly fill 10–20 lb orders for parties and boils).
Can I get live lobster in Indianapolis?
Yes, with one day's notice. Live Maine lobster comes in on our daily deliveries, so call your nearest market a day ahead and we'll have your lobsters ready, steamed or live. Planning an event or need several? Same deal, just tell us the count.
Can you special-order seafood I don't see in the case?
Yes. We take fresh deliveries every day, so with one day's notice we can special-order most items for next-day pickup, including out-of-season and hard-to-find seafood. Tell us what you're after and we'll track it down.
Do you carry alligator, frog legs or other specialty seafood?
Yes. We're known for genuine alligator (the best in Indiana), plus frog legs, octopus, skate and seasonal specialties most Midwest markets never stock.
Do you cook the seafood I buy at the market?
Two ways to enjoy Caplinger's: buy it fresh to cook at home (we'll clean and season it), or order it cooked from our kitchens, fried fish, fish & chips, lobster rolls, gator bites and classic sides.

Do you take large or call-ahead orders?
Absolutely. For large king-crab orders, multiple lobsters, boils or catering, call your nearest location a day ahead so we can have everything ready. The kitchen works the same way: big fried-fish orders, family packs and party trays just take a quick call ahead.
Do you cater seafood in Indianapolis?
Yes, Caplinger's caters everything from backyard low-country boils to corporate trays, fried fish spreads (our biggest kitchen favorite) and large king-crab orders. Tell us the headcount, date and location and we'll build it for you.
Do you do seafood boils?

Four, all in Indianapolis: Shadeland Ave (east side) and Southside (S Meridian St) are full markets + restaurants; Pendleton Pike (Lawrence) and The AMP at 16 Tech (downtown) are Seafood Kitchens.
What are your hours?
Most locations are open Monday–Thursday 10am–8pm, Friday & Saturday 10am–9pm, closed Sunday; The AMP runs Monday–Saturday 11am–8pm. Always check Google for holiday hours.
